The problem
A personalised piece is assembled from other products in the catalogue: a necklace plus a birthstone, a chain plus charms. Those siblings have their own variants and prices, and the order still has to read as one piece.
The system
The selector is theme code, not a personalisation app. The buyer picks a stone, the gallery moves to a preview of that stone, and add to cart posts the parent variant and the sibling variant together. Afterpay on-site messaging, Klaviyo and Swym are on the storefront. Afterpay's own message states a maximum purchase of $4,000 AUD.
The implementation
- 01Customised the storefront from Prestige 10.9.2
- 02Pointed birthstone and charm choices at variants that belong to sibling products
- 03Linked the parent line and the sibling lines with a shared bundle id
- 04Swapped the gallery to a preview image for the chosen stone
- 05Left Afterpay on-site messaging, Klaviyo and Swym as the surrounding integrations
The result
- Theme
- Customised Prestige 10.9.2
- Catalogue
- 1,300+ published products
- Personalisation
- Sibling products, no builder app
Key learnings
- 01Sibling products keep price and inventory on the variant that actually exists
- 02A shared bundle id is what ties the parent line to the stones or charms
- 03Preview images in the product gallery show the chosen stone without another app
